These steampunk novels by Erica Allaire convinced me that steampunk was a good genre to read!

The Mist Gate series, by Susan Bianculli, has an awesome villain, who is the subject of the second book.

The 'Girl vs Evil' series by Rosemary Clement-Moore is wonderful fun, even if you happen to be a guy. I also enjoy her Texas Gothic series--which nearly had me rolling on the floor at a science fiction convention as she read it aloud, because I was laughing so hard. Because of space limitations here, I will post a link to the first book in a series and let visitors here find their own way to the remaining books in these series.

I also enjoy this series, by Vanessa Knipe: Chronicles of the Staff and Students of the Theological College of St. Van Helsing. This series primarily concerns faculty and more senior students at the college and how they deal with misuses of magic.
